The Husband Store A store where a woman may go to choose a husband has opened in New York City. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates: You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the products increase as the shopper ascends the flights. The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you CANNOT GO BACK DOWN except to exit the building! So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the 1st floor the sign on the door reads:- Floor 1 - These men Have Jobs She is intrigued, but continues to the 2nd floor, where the sign reads:- Floor 2 - These men Have Jobs and Love Kids. "That's nice" she thinks, "but I want more." So she continues upward. The 3rd floor signs reads:- Floor 3 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, and are Extremely Good Looking. "Wow!" she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going. She goes to the 4th floor and the sign reads:- Floor 4 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help With Housework. "Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!" Still, she goes to the 5th floor and the sign reads:- Floor 5 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, Help With Housework, and Have a Strong Romantic Streak. She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the 6th floor, where the signs reads:- Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store. :-) ______________________ Fitness, faith and folly One of the things that I've noticed in my 51-years on the earth is that we have more in common with one another, than we do or hold in differences. On Sunday, Dec. 23rd, CBS broadcasted a phenomenal documentary called, " In God's Name." After Sept. 11th, 2001 brothers Jules and Gedean Neduet felt compelled to interview twelve of the top spiritual and religious leaders today. Their conclusion was startling when thinks about it: We -- Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and all the world's spiritual beliefs -- have FAR more in COMMON, than we do in differences. The challenge exists because as human beings, over 75% of our thoughts are negative, to which few psychologists or psychiatrists disagree. Thus, understand what that entails: when "change" has been thrust upon you, do you look for the good in the change first and foremost? ______________________ Whether you think you can, or that you can't ... you're right." -- Henry Ford "You increase your joy by increasing the pure joy of others." -- Torkom Sayaydarian, Scholar & Composer "An inch of progress is worth more than a yard of complaint." - Booker T. Washington "Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world." -- Desmond Tutu, Cleric & Civil rights leader "Love is never lost. If not reciprocated, it will flow back and soften and purify the heart." -- Washington Irving, Novelist & Essayist "It is not knowledge, but the act of learning, not possession but the act of getting there, which grants the greatest enjoyment." --Carl Gauss, Mathmetician & astronomer. _________________________ Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907. "In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people." Twenty-some years ago he was not the strapping 6'3", 235 lb. beloved sports hero that he is today. At that time he was a one-inch-long unborn child whose existence, because of an amoebic infection, was defined as threat to his mother's health. Pam Tebow, his mother, was told by a doctor that it would be in her best interests to abort this baby, and she refused. Her husband backed her up on that generous decision, and seven months later they gave birth to a perfectly healthy boy. Little did they know that twenty years later they would be standing on a national stage with a Heisman Trophy winner giving that magnificent witness to life. The world thanks you, Mr. and Mrs. Tebow! There cannot be a more touching Advent story than this.
How Many Heisman Winners Has Abortion Killed? I wonder if anyone has ever asked how many potential Heisman Trophy winners abortion has actually killed. The answer is, twelve. Reflect on that a bit as you read further because there is a larger lesson in the Tebows' witness.
Dr. Brian Clowes, Human Life Int'l researcher, has examined the data from the 2007 Statistical Abstract of the United States (most recent census data) and extrapolated the numbers of the various professions and categories of Americans who have been eliminated in the wake of nearly 49 million legalized abortions, since 1973. The following numbers are based on the actual government estimates of the professions represented in America. So then, who have we lost to abortion?

Health and fitness, and respect are the focus of this newsletter as well as give you inspiration to set your 2008 goals high(er): "The danger is not that we set our goals too high and fail to achieve them; it's that they are too low, and we do." Ralph Waldo Emerson ________________________ A Different Way to Health Fitness: Rethinking "Exercise" Dr. Robert Maurer, author of the Nightingale -Conant program, "One Small Step Can Change Your Life." I'm in partnership with Dr. BobMaurer, and he has authorized me to share these health studies' results relative to how much we should exercise, and how: · A 2004 Swedish study showed that older adults who exercised only once a week were 40% less likely to die during the 12 year study period than those who did nothing · A 1999 study or more than 800 residents of Kings county, Washington, showed dramatic health benefits among those who gardened or walked for just an hour a week. This added up to 400 to 500 calories burned but it resulted in a 70% lower risk of sudden cardiac death · Recent studies suggest the total amount of time spent exercising rather than the length of each workout is the criteria for success 15 minute exercise routines, done consistently lowered the risk of heart disease as much as longer workouts done less regularly · Middle-aged people who took a pound off a year for four years and kept the four pound loss for the next four years had a 25% lower risk for high blood pressure. · Dramatic improvements in health are correlated with achieved by burning an extra 1000 calories per week 145 calories a day. For example, 20 minutes of housework is good for 100 calories, a ten minute walk is 50 calories and walking up four flights of stairs burns 100 calories. · Replacing sweetened drinks with water results in a 5 pound weight loss in a year · The Power of Standing, Fidgeting, and Pacing: people who are heavy tend to be sedentary. Thin people tend to be more active. A Mayo Clinic Study found people who were standing, pacing, fidgeting for about two hours of their day burned 350 calories more a day, a 30-40 lb a year loss! What this means for you is that by exercising for 10-15 minutes/day, and doing it several times a day, MAY be more effective for you and your health than one, long workout a day! Every evening deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every cent, right? Each of us has such a bank. It is TIME. Every morning, we are credited with 86,400 seconds. Every night, written off is whatever we have failed to invest to good purpose. No balances are carried over. There is no protection of overdraft. Every day a new account opens. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If we fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is ours. There is no going back. There is no credit or drawing against the "tomorrow." Couch time is a foreseen debit to your account to be avoided. You must live in the present on today's deposits. To realize the value of ONE DAY, ask the daily wage laborer with kids to feed. To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask lovers waiting to meet. To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the plane. To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident.
