Hello ,

In George Orwell's novel 1984 the attempts to control not only the speech and actions, but also the of its subjects, labeling unapproved thoughts with the term thoughtcrime or, in the newspeak language , "crimethink".

In the book, Winston Smith, the main character, writes in his diary:

"Thoughtcrime does not entail death: thoughtcrime IS death. "

Okay, let 's talk about thought crimes. It sounds pretty ominous doesn't it? To think that people, even you, could be committing a crime just with your very mind... by merely thinking. But the fact is that is what you are doing. In fact that is what you started doing the moment you were born.

When you were born, just an infant, what you wanted was also what you needed. For you the world was rich and there to serve you. You were a king/or queen. The sun rose to wake you and it set to tell you it's time to sleep. The people around you were there to help you live those very first moments of life. You had a since of entitlement. You deserve this. So what happened?

Well, first of all, even thought you were small it was the nature of the people around you to be like guards and control you. They saw you wants and needs and they began to dictate what they think you should have. But that didn't stop your wants or needs. So you expressed them .... and more than likely what happened is when you did express you wants you got ignored.. or worse you got punished.

This was you first step in to the world of thought crime.

You began to learn that there were things that you could openly want. If you acted on getting what you want you were punished, if you spoke up asking for what you want you were ignored. If you suppressed all you wants, turned you back on your desires, shut up, and moved along with the crowd in lock step, you learn one simple lesson: "The nail that sticks out gets pounded down." And if you're like most of the people who are forced to follow this path one of the biggest things you loose is your since of passion, of desire and want of being unique and special in the world. You learn to settle for "good enough" and ignore the possibilities that you can and should have what you want.

So what I'm proposing to you is that you become a thought criminal. That you break free of the guards and prisons and judges and raise yourself about the cud chewing flock of lock-step masses who are just willing to "get by" become something daring and rebellious.

Become a Thought Criminal.
Think for yourself.

Become a Thought Criminal.
Embrace what you want.

Become a Thought Criminal.
Tell me your thoughts.

Sincerely,

JK Ellis
