Reply All I know we here at WorldStart have probably mentioned this in several other tips before, but we've never really gone over it in detail. So, that got me thinking that some of you may not completely understand it and since I can't stand the thought of that, I figured I'd go over it today! Plus, I know most of you probably run into this on a daily basis while you're going through your e-mail, so it's important that you fully understand it. Let's go! First of all, just so we're clear, the Reply All (also known as Reply to All) feature is an e-mail function and it basically means sending an e-mail to more than one person. For instance, let's say you received an e-mail from one of your friends and although your address was the only one listed on the To: line, your friend copied (Cc) a few other people on it and you want the reply to go to all of them as well. In that case, you would hit the Reply All button and all of their addresses (and your friend's) will be added to the To: line. That way, everyone can see your reply and you don't have to worry about sending out individual e-mails. It's such a timesaver! Now, all e-mail programs have the Reply All feature, but it may show up differently, depending on the service you use. Here are a couple examples. In Outlook Express, the button says Reply All and it's located right next to the Reply button. In Yahoo!, there's a down arrow on the Reply button you can click to choose Reply to Everyone. In Gmail, there's a down arrow on the Reply button you can click to choose Reply to All and in Hotmail, there's a Reply All button located in between the Reply and Forward buttons. No matter which way you use it, this is one e-mail feature definitely worth checking out. I know I use it all the time. Try it today! ~ Erin You can't stop now! There's so much more to read about. Keep going to learn all about WorldStart's tip archives and how they can help you with your computer troubles, find out how you can get certain things back in various MS Office 2007 programs and learn how to create your very own password reset disk. Also, be sure to check out this week's awesome download thanks to Gary and as always, don't miss out on Amanda's Cool Site of the Day. Enjoy!
Hey everyone! Wow - we had an AMAZING response to Office Suite 2007 yesterday! Hundreds of you are about to experience how this blows away MS office - both in ease of use AND price! We had some service interruptions yesterday, but we're 100% today! Make sure you stop by the site and treat yourself to the best office software I've ever used! It's absolutely GREAT! WOW! You Gotta Try Our Best-Selling Office Software - Ever! You'll Never Spend BIG BUCKS On MS Office Again! Office Software Just As Powerful - Just $12.97! Really! That's Not A typo!! You Just Gotta See This! Easy To Use! Absolutely Incredible!!
Oh WOW! I gotta tell ya - I'm REALLY (REALLY) EXCITED about this one! We just got Office Suite 2007 in stock (powered by OpenOffice) and let me tell ya - this thing is just incredible! It not only has EVERY feature you'd want in an office suite, it's almost a give-away price too! First off, this version is absolutely fantastic - I can't believe how impressed I continue to be with this software! I like it WAAYYY better than MS Office 2007! The power and ease of use is just phenomenal! I was putting it on my machine temporarily just to test it (I have MS Office 2007), but now that I've seen it and used it - well, MS Office is the one getting evicted!! Turns out it really blows MS Office right out of the water! I was telling Gary, our tech guy, about how much I love this thing and turns out that he uses this to write up all the security articles and downloads for the tips newsletter! He's with me - after using it he wouldn't go back to MS Office - EVER! What do you get? Well, EVERYTHING! This includes an absolutely fantastic word processor, a spreadsheet program on steroids (it just stomps Excel), presentation software that's second to none, an incredible drawing program, an advanced calculating program, and even a souped-up, high-end database! It can even create PDFs with the push of a button from most applications! WOW! To get even close to that with MS office you'd be looking at a small fortune! I was using the the other day with a friend and for the first half-hour he thought we were using MS Office. Finally he looked at it a little closer and said, "Hey - what program is this?" I told him about it - and how inexpensive it was - and he was blown away! He couldn't believe that you could get a program like this for less than $15!! In fact, at first he thought I was kidding around. Well, he's got a few on the way for himself now! Why shell out $400 - $800 for MS Office when you can get this for a small fraction of the cost? I know we're going to be using it here at the office when we have a new computer arrive. We used to shell out $400+ just so we could use Word and Excel! This is actually BETTER and the low cost is just unreal! The 2 of the main components are a top notch Word Processor and a Spreadsheet Program. Both look a LOT like MS Word and MS Excel - in fact, if you just open it up and ignore the title bar, you'd swear that you were using an improved version of MS Office! It's THAT good. Oh, and like I said, this also comes with a phenomenal presentation program, drawing program, database and MORE! Let's look at the main two everyone use though - I just want to give you an idea why this program is sooo great! The Word Processor is just fantastic! I mean, it really has everything - a spell checker, grammar checker, thesaurus, auto text, tables, password protection, mail merge, easy font selection, auto numbering, etc. Plus, everything is very intuitive - it just seems like things are where you expect them to be and work the way you'd expect them to work. It's like the person who wrote the software actually uses the software! It also has a fantastic built-in HTML editor for web pages that works seamless with the word processor, a really easy to use tool to insert shapes, and more! Here's what I love ~ you can turn your document into a PDF file with the click of one button ~ this is a terrific feature!! Oh, and wait till you see the Spreadsheet Program! It looks and functions just like MS Excel! Even the menus are virtually identical - everything you're used to doing in Excel can be done just as quickly here. TONS of built-in formulas, formatting, and functions at your fingertips. Create charts in just a few mouse clicks, filter data easily, send spreadsheets via e-mail, you name it, this can do it! You'll never need Excel again (or wan to use it for that matter)!! The really cool thing is that all of this is 100% MS Office Compatible. It not only opens MS Office files (.doc, .xls) but can also save in that format! That way, you don't need to have MS Office to create or save MS Office documents. Cool huh? I tell ya what - I could go on and on about this one - it's really one of the most - if not the most - powerful office suites I've ever had the privilege of using! I'm really excited about having it on my computer and I can't recommend this highly enough! If you need office software, you just gotta give this a try! Oh, your cost? Glad you asked! Just $12.97 and US shipping is FREE! It's almost a give-away for that kind of money - especially when you think that MS Office is $400-$800!! Try it, you'll thank me later :-) http://store.worldstart.com/product.php?productid=4134 Q: A: If you ever run into a problem you don't know the answer to, it's a good idea to search through WorldStart's archives to see if you can find a tip that will give you the guidelines you need to solve your problem. So, before you look anywhere else for help, you may want to give WorldStart's computer tip archives a shot! ~ Erin Have a question for the newsletter? Submit it at the link below: Give Them Back! I've been asked several times about MS Office 2007 and its missing menus. Many people were happy with the menu system previous Office versions used and are looking to get that back. But I have some bad news for you. According to my Office 2007 help, there's no way to switch back to the menus. For now, you're stuck with the ribbons. In related comments, I've seen that people are upset with the ribbons using too much of their screen space, which obviously minimizes what you can see in your documents, workbooks and presentations. Now, that's something I can help you with! If you right click over the ribbons, you'll see the following choices: Choose Minimize the Ribbon from the list. You'll immediately notice a difference. The ribbons are now "put away," leaving just their names visible and increasing your work space. (To reverse this, simply right click and select Minimize the Ribbon once again). If you need something, just click a ribbon name and it will be opened over your document, allowing you to make your choice. When you're finished, the ribbon will disappear again, leaving you to continue on your merry way! ~ April
"OH, WOW! Wish I'd Have Thought Of It!" FINALLY... Sticky, Gooey, Nasty Messes Are GONE FOREVER! Ingenious Design Prevents Drips & Spills!!! OK, You Just Gotta Check This Out I'm so impressed! I just absolutely LOVE this item!! It finally takes the stickiness out of using honey & syrup! You know how a bottle of honey or syrup gets - all sticky on the lid and down the sides from drips (especially if you have kids ~ like me ;-) - GROSS! The "pouring" doesn't stop right when you want it to - It just sort of oozes out and then ends up on the outside of the bottle, your hands (and everywhere on your kids), the table, in the fridge etc. Not pretty, not at all. When I saw this No Drip Syrup & Honey Dispenser, I just had to get one (we use honey like its going out of style at my house). I didn't even think about it as an item for our store, but once I tried it I was just blown away with how well it worked and had to tell the world! I've been using mine for a couple months now, and it's been GREAT! Never a mess, never a spill - it just works! You know how you sometimes find a product that, once you try it, you'll never be without one? That's this! Now, it's as essential in my kitchen as my pots, pans, and silverware! You just gotta try it! I know I wouldn't be without it! How's it work? Simply fill the glass "beehive" with your choice of honey or syrup and place it in the glass stand ~ pretty easy so far, huh? Need a little honey in your tea or on your toast? No problem! The honey dispenses easily with a push of the thumb on the lever. A nice thin drizzle of honey comes out - when you release the lever, the inside mechanism stops the flow of honey on on the spot - no spills or drips!!! Replace the dispenser back in the glass stand and your honey is right there for the next time you need it (and it looks nice too)! Here's what I really like about this No Drip Dispenser design, the honey (or syrup) is always ready to "pour". In a traditional bottle, once you get half way down or more, you need to shake and shake the bottle or let it sit upside-down so you can get the honey out. Then, I usually forget I turned the bottle upside-down so when I come back, it's started to ooze out the cap. Let me tell ya, that makes quite the mess! With this really clever beehive design and dispenser stand, your honey (or syrup) is always at the "top" for quick and easy dispensing! This No Drip Dispenser keeps my honey at hand, but not on my hands! I love it and I know you will too! Your price is just $14.97 and that includes FREE shipping in the US! Check it out here: http://store.worldstart.com/product.php?productid=4039 PS - I think this would work great for salad dressings too! Get a nice drizzle of dressing without drowning your salad. I need to get another one now ;-) Hurry to the site before they're gone!
Creating a Password Reset Disk We have now covered resetting your password in both Windows XP and Vista, so today, I thought we'd work on tying everything together. And in the process of doing that, we’ll make sure you never need to reset your password again! That's right, we will be creating a password reset disk you can use whenever you forget your password. All you have to do is put the disk into your computer and when you see the Welcome screen, simply choose your new password. Sounds pretty helpful and timesaving, don’t you think? Then let's get to it! Note: This will only work if you have a floppy drive or a USB flash drive. 1.) First, I’ll show you how to create a password disk for Windows XP. 2.) Click on your Start button and select the Control Panel.
5.) Click the "Prevent a forgotten password" option.
Now, in case you ever do forget your password, all you need to do is this: 1.) On the Welcome screen, click on your username and then hit Enter. 2.) A message will then appear, asking you to put in your password reset disk or flash drive. 3.) Next, click the link that says "Use your password reset disk." 4.) The Password Reset Wizard will then open up again. Just follow the instructions for creating a new password. 5.) And you know what the best part is? You don’t even have to create another password reset disk. The same one will work the next time you forget your password (if there ever is a next time!) The steps are extremely similar for Windows Vista. Here they are: 1.) To access the Forget Password Wizard, go to Start, Control Panel. 2.) Click on User Accounts and then select your account.
This one's a definite must have for all computer users. Enjoy! ~ Neil Patel If you enjoy our tips, tell your friends. That's what keeps this newsletter growing.
Windows Vulnerability Scanner Today, I was able to find a very helpful download that will help keep your computer secure. The program is called Windows Vulnerability Scanner. All you have to do is download and run the scanner to find Windows vulnerability issues and the fixes that go along with them. I was surprised to see that this program found three patches I need for my computer! When you run this program, it will scan your system and even make a custom report on what it recommends for you. I was even more surprised to see that the updates it found for me weren't even found by the standard Windows update program. Wow! You've definitely got to give this one a try. You can download the Windows Vulnerability Scanner program for yourself right here. Enjoy! ~ Gary For stories, jokes, quotes and cartoons every day, sign up for our Just for Grins newsletter.
