HEY! Save Your Life For $12.97! Incredible Device Detects Electrical Current! Don't Mess With Wires Or Electricity Without It! EZ Test To See If There's Power! Have you or someone you know ever needed to do some household wiring? Or maybe you just needed a way to test and see if something was actually getting power? If so, this is one device you'll want for the next time! It's a Non-Contact Voltage Detector and it's a real life saver! I mean, you know how it goes. You play the "flip the breaker" game (they never seem to be labeled well - kind of like modern Russian Roulette), until you "think" you have the power off to the area you need to wire. Unfortunately, thinking you have the power off just isn't enough - ask me how I know, LOL! For instance, when we got our new house I had to replace one of the electrical outlets. Flipped off the breaker, lights in that room went off, and I thought I was set. THANK GOODNESS I have one of these little gadgets! Just to be safe, I decided to use a Non-Contact Voltage Detector like the one were featuring today and see if the power was really out. OOPS! YIKES! The power was still on! The plug was at the edge of another circuit - and that circuit was still hot! Thankfully, I was able to get the correct breaker thrown and all went well. How does it work? Couldn't be easier. Make sure you have fresh batteries installed, unit is on, then just hold the device up to the outlet (or wire, socket, whatever). If there's power, it will whistle and flash! I've also found it's absolutely great to track use to down power problems! Say you have something that's not working (like a lamp) and you replaced the bulb and still no go. You can simply put this next to the outlet to see if there's power, next to the cord to see if it's getting power, and even into the socket to see if the power is getting there! Unlimited uses - something everyone should have! I know I used the heck out of mine during our remodeling and I really can't recommend this little gadget highly enough! Don't just flip a switch or breaker off and assume your safe - know for sure! Again, your cost is just $12.97 and US shipping is FREE! Pretty cheap "life" insurance if you ask me! First time it keeps you from zappin' yourself, you'll be thanking me for telling you about it! Grab one today! http://store.worldstart.com/product.php?productid=4261 PS - This is a limited quantity deal, so make sure you RUN to the site and get one while you can! WOW! Amazing DIGITAL Tire Gauge! Makes Checking Your Tire Pressure A Snap! Saves TON$$$ In Gas With The Proper Tire Pressure! Here's an absolutely incredible deal on a Digital Tire Gauge! I love these things! I personally have one and let me tell you - after you go digital with your air pressure readings, you just aren't going back to the "blow out the stick" type gauges :-) It's SOOOO easy to use! Just press it to your valve stem and it will give you an EXACT reading of your tire pressure! PLUS it covers a HUGE range - from a mere 3 PSI to a whopping 99 PSI - this has you covered for just about every type of tire you'll ever run across! What I love about these is there's no guesswork. With the "blow out the stick" type gauges, you are always wondering if you stuck it on the valve stem right, ya know? Heck, I can stick one of those old-fashioned gauges on the valve stem 3 times and get three different readings! Why even bother - my thumb pushing on the tire would be as accurate! With this, all the "mystery" goes away! Not only that, this even includes a handy tire tread gauge to see how much tread you have left ton your tires! How cool is that? Finally, making it easy to check your tire pressure makes it easy to save on gas. Everyone knows that properly inflated tires get better MPG - and at $3.40 a gallon around here today, I think it's time to double check my tires! Oh,and get this - Just $12.97 and US shipping is FREE! It's a heck of a deal - make sure you grab one before they sell out! http://store.worldstart.com/product.php?productid=4260 PS - You guessed it - this is another limited quantity deal. Get to the site early and grab one of these for each of your cars! Give 'em a try - you'll never go back to the old tire gauges! WOW! - Check Out These Great Offers Too! Q: A: One is through our new Windows Vista Sidebar Gadget and the other is our new iGoogle Homepage Gadget. You can learn more about both of them and install them right here. Windows Vista Sidebar Gadget Although people have mixed opinions about Windows Vista, it seems as if everyone agrees on one thing: the Windows Vista sidebar is a great tool! We designed this for all you Vista users out there so that you would have easy access to all of our newest computer tips right away. And I'm talking about as soon as we write them! This new sidebar gadget updates every 20 minutes and it shows you the headlines of all our newest tips. All you have to do is click on a headline and you will instantly be taken to our Web site where you can then read the entire tip. If you have Windows Vista, we would love for you to give this a try. That way, when you log in, you are able to see all the information you want, without any of the searching. (You can read more about iGoogle here). I personally love iGoogle and I know a lot of our readers use it for their homepage as well. Because of that, we decided to make a gadget for iGoogle too! Just like the Vista gadget, this one can be added to your iGoogle homepage with just a simple click of a button. It will show you our newest tips and headlines as fast as we write them and it's also updated every 20 minutes throughout the entire day. All you have to do is click on a headline and you will be taken directly to our Web site where you can read the tip in full. Here's the link you need one more time! We hope you love our new gadgets. We made them just for you, so enjoy! ~ Gary Have a question for the newsletter? Submit it at the link below: From Another Workbook Yesterday, we discussed how to write MS Excel formulas that reference cells located on a different worksheet within your workbook. Well, the next logical thing to do is go one step further and ask: how do we write formulas that reference cells from a completely different workbook? That's a very good question and it's exactly what we're going to go over today! The easiest way to tackle this one is to let Excel do the referencing for you. So, begin by opening both the workbook with the data cells and the one that will contain the formula. Now, go to the cell that contains the formula and begin as usual. That is, start with your equal sign and/or function and pause at the first place in the formula where you're looking to pull data from a different workbook. For example: =sum( Next, you need to switch to the workbook that contains the data. (For all you keyboard people out there, Ctrl + F6 will rotate you through the open workbooks). Once you're switched over to the data workbook, highlight the cell(s) that contain the needed information. Now, you'll need to switch back to the formula workbook (Ctrl + F6 works here too). When you return, you should see that Excel has automatically put in the reference you were looking for from the other workbook. At this point, you're ready to finish up your formula. Continuing with the above example, it'd be best to first finish up with the right parentheses. There you have it! A complete formula containing references to cells from another workbook. And better yet, Excel did a lot of the typing for you! Next, I think we should discuss how Excel handles updating the formula to reflect the changed data.
Referencing data from other locations just got a whole lot easier! ~ April
Upgrading To A New PC? Here's A Super Easy Way To Move SOFTWARE To Another Computer!! We're Talking Point & Click!!! This Will Blow You Away! Check out PC Mover! This software allows you to move the programs and files from your old PC onto your new PC! Here's a video overview (click the picture below - scroll down when you get to the page - it's a YouTube video with a review of the product): What's got me so excited about this software is that it can actually move programs from one PC to another. Moving files is easy (just use a CD or flash drive), but moving software is always a problem. First off, trying to move most programs by yourself is all but impossible. Sure, the main program might be under your Program Files folder, but during setup, it probably installed lots of DLL files under your Windows System directory, registered those same files with Windows, maybe it placed shortcuts, added startup items, dropped in templates - well, you get the idea. When most software is installed, you get components and pieces of the software scattered all over your hard drive. Manually finding every part and putting it back on a new computer, placed where it should be and registered with Windows is almost impossible. Our Test Results - WOW!!! Several of us here have used this to move from one PC to another - what a breeze! Just plug in the cable, run the software, and follow along with the easy to understand wizard! You'll select the files AND programs you want to move. After all the selecting is done, you simply leave the computer to do its thing. The software will transfer all your files and programs automatically! As for the deal - this is incredible! This software sells for around $80 - but your cost is just $24.97 and US shipping is FREE! Is that amazing or what?? Check it out - only 50 available! http://store.worldstart.com/product.php?productid=3897 PS - If you think you're ever, in your lifetime, going to get a new PC you really need to grab this software! After seeing how great this works firsthand, I can't imagine migrating to a new computer without it. I know it's going to save me gobs of time and money when it comes time for the big upgrade! Got A Camera? Then YOU Need THIS! Clean Your Lens - With A PEN! Now Both Small AND Large Cameras! I have an awesome one for you today! We have the coolest little camera accessory ever! It's called a LensPen and it makes the normally tedious - and sometimes difficult - chore of cleaning your camera lens a breeze! I've personally been using one of these for years on my lenses and let me tell ya - THEY WORK! No messy fluids, no special tissues, no worry about scratching your equipment! Just pop the cleaning tip out of the pen and, using a circular motion, it will remove all the gunk on your lens! Fingerprints, "gunk" dust, dirt - it removes them easily - and leaves you with a sparkling clean lens! Even has a brush on one end to take care of "heavy" debris (sand, heavy dust, etc)! WOW! I tell ya, years ago I used to work in a camera store and you should have seen how nasty all the lenses were that came in! I just never understood why people would spend good money on a camera, only to never clean off the lens! If you want sharp photos, you gotta keep that lens CLEAN! And this does the job easier than any other lens cleaning kit, that's for SURE! Today we actually have TWO LensPens for ya! The first is designed for small, point and shoot digital and film cameras. If you have a small camera without interchangeable lenses, then this is the pen for you! It's designed especially to clean smaller lenses - and the job it does is just gonna blow you away! Have a bigger camera? Maybe a digital SLR? Well, now we carry a Lenspen for you too! It's the "full size" version and it's the one I use! This is great for interchangeable lens cameras, binoculars, spotting scopes and anything with a similar sized lens! Check this sample out: Before - Note the really nasty smudge: After - Couldn't be cleaner! Just look at that reflection! You can count the grids in the overhead light! See why I love these things? If you want your photos to be better, this is a must have! It makes it soooo easy to keep your lens clean! I know I love having mine - I use it before every shoot! It's by far the best way I've come across to keep your lenses clean! Your cost? Get this - just $10.97 and US shipping is FREE! For that price, you gotta give it a go (grab a couple)! You'll love it too! Small Lenspen For Point & Shoot Style Cameras: http://store.worldstart.com/product.php?productid=4171 Large Lenspen for SLR (interchangeable lens) cameras (or binoculars, scopes, etc) http://store.worldstart.com/product.php?productid=4170 PS - This is one of the top sellers from our supplier, so make sure you get to the site quickly before we run out!
Are You Feeling Lucky? Another reader asks: When I go to search on Google, I always see two options: Google Search and I’m Feeling Lucky. What does the I’m Feeling Lucky button do? If you could clear that up for me, I'd really appreciate it! Oh, this is such a fun question! First of all, if you see the I'm Feeling Lucky button when you're searching on Google, don't worry, there’s nothing wrong with your computer. It’s just another fun little Google innovation that’s supposed to save you time while you're searching. Let's check it out! To begin, here's what the I'm Feeling Lucky button looks like: The I’m Feeling Lucky option returns the first result that would have come up in a normal Google search. For example, go to Google, type "WorldStart" into the search box and press Enter on your keyboard. The first thing that comes up is the WorldStart homepage. Now, if you were to press the I’m Feeling Lucky button, it would give you a direct link to the WorldStart homepage instead. For instance, click on I’m Feeling Lucky and you’ll be taken to http://www.worldstart.com. Note: You need to be careful when you use this button! Recently, there was a controversy where Google apologized, because typing in "Jew" returned more than 16 million results, the first of which was a very disturbing Web site. When you're using the I’m Feeling Lucky option, there's no way of knowing what Web site you will be taken to, unless you’ve visited it before. When you use the normal Google search, you can select the Web site you’d like to visit. That's the main difference between the Google Search and I’m Feeling Lucky buttons, but it surely is fun to switch it up sometimes! So, tell me, are you feeling lucky today?! ~ Brandon Zubek If you enjoy our tips, tell your friends. That's what keeps this newsletter growing. Viruses: The Good and Bad Today, I have some information about viruses, spyware and other malware. Listen up! Did you know that the number of malware programs on the Web today is predicted to increase to one million this year? Yikes! The number of bad programs continues to grow at an alarming rate, but that's actually some good news! That's right, I said one million viruses is good news. Here's why! It seems as if the numbers are growing so quickly because fewer malware programs actually get the chance to infect a user's PC. With antivirus, anti-malware and anti-rootkit software doing better and better as time goes by, the chance of a new threat ever reaching your computer is dwindling down. Because of that, people who write those nasty programs are being forced to write them faster and faster in order to keep up. According to stats by Sophos, a leading threat researcher, 85 to 90 percent of malware families have a fix created almost immediately. Also, e-mails with viruses attached have less of a chance of getting through to your computer. In the past, one out of 40 attempts would successfully infect your computer. Now, that number is one out of 1,000. That is great news for all of us! That's even more of a reason to keep your protection up to date. It just shows that we're all doing much better at keeping viruses at bay. Let's keep up the good work and give those virus makers a run for their money! Until next time, stay safe out there, my friends! ~ Gary For stories, jokes, quotes and cartoons every day, sign up for our Just for Grins newsletter. A skill I miss using is the DOS Tree from Windows 3.1. I was talking about that with a friend of mine online and they pointed me toward this Web site. What you'll find here is an A to Z listing of skills that have become obsolete over time. Let's check it out! You’ll find the link to the A to Z listing of obsolete skills on the side menu. Some examples of those skills are: Be Kind, Rewind Each one is linked to its entry, so you can click on the title to learn more. The entry will describe the following: Field, Went Obsolete, Made Obsolete By, Knowledge Assumed and When Useful. They might also have a more descriptive entry after those sections are filled out. On the main page, you’ll also find a link to a list of new skills that have never been heard of before. That listing is set up the same way as the list of obsolete skills. Some examples are: Adobe Photoshop Skills I think these lists give an interesting look into the way our lives have changed over the years! http://obsoleteskills.com/Main/HomePage ~ Amanda Do you have a cool, non-commercial site that you want to share?
