Keep Your Photos With You Wherever You Are! I absolutely LOVE this item! I am already thinking about how great this is going to be to give as a gift for birthday's, holidays, etc.! It's portable, compact, looks great and is just one of the coolest "gadgets" I have come across in a long time! Under the photo screen is an LCD display with the time and temperature! You also have an alarm and backlight feature on the clock as well which makes this a perfect item for travel! Setup is really easy, the Digital Photo Display comes with a USB cable so you can easily load your favorite photos within minutes! Once your photos are loaded, simply set the display type (auto change pictures or manual) and your clock and your all set! I have never been a huge fan of digital frames before, I didn't see the need ~ but, this one is so unobtrusive and really handy with the clock and temperature display that I can't get over how excited I am about it! You have to check this out for yourself (I don't think our picture here does it justice). Your cost is just $26.97 and that includes FREE shipping in the US! Have you priced digital photos frames - most go for $75.00+! http://store.worldstart.com/product.php?productid=3856 This price will increase to $30.97 on Wednesday! More great deals in the second section below!! Keep reading! Q: A: They both do a good job of giving you the all around computing experience you're looking for. They are both convenient and capable of doing what you need to do with them as well. Laptops and notebooks also work with an LCD screen, which offers up the most recent technology when it comes to computer monitors. The screens are getting thinner and flatter every day, which is good, because the screen on your computer is one of the most important factors when you're using it. Yes, the keyboard part is important too, but you pretty much do everything with the screen and it's pertinent for you to have something you're comfortable with. Laptops and notebooks are obviously more convenient than desktop computers. You can carry them with you everywhere you go, so you can always have your computer when you need it. It's a little harder to do that with desktops, because they are so much heavier. (I guess you could try taking your desktop to a coffee shop or some place similar, but people might look at you funny!) The light weight of laptops and notebooks is just so handy for computer users. Everyone can benefit from that! So, when buying a new computer, you don't really need to check into the differences between a laptop and notebook, because they are very similar. Just make sure you look for one that has all the features and accessories you're going to want. For example, if you're buying for your granddaughter, she may still be in high school or college, so she'll need some word processing applications for all the papers she has to write. She may also want some cool accessories like a CD burner or a music player. Be sure to plan the features around who will be using the computer the most. Laptops and notebooks are so compact and they're perfect for a first time computer owner. They will give you what you need when you need it and nothing could bring more convenience. I hope all of this helps at least a little with your computer buying decisions. Happy shopping! ~ Erin Have a question for the newsletter? Submit it at the link below:
Templates, Templates, Templates I often get requests from readers for templates. You know, somewhere they can go to download templates to use with the MS Office Suite programs. Now, while I'm sure there are many places you can look, you should be aware that some do come with spyware. A reliable place to download templates is directly from the Microsoft Web site itself. The next time you're looking for some sort of template to use, give this link a click: http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/templategallery/ There you will find templates for a multitude of topics, including stationary, cards, resumés, presentations, invoices, budgets, flyers and forms, just to name a few. So, if you're looking for a template, you'll definitely want to give this place a try! ~ April

Paint, Draw, Write, Sign, and Sketch With Precision and Ease! This is such a cool item ~ I am so glad they are finally coming down in price and are available to the average computer user! What is it you ask? A Graphics Tablet! You may have also heard of them referred to as digitizing tablets, graphics pads or drawing tablets but no matter the name, they generally refer to the same thing. In case you haven't heard of a Graphics Tablet before, it's simply an input device that can be used in place of or right along with a mouse, trackball or other pointing Pretty cool, huh? How's it work? Simple ~ you plug the tablet into your computer with the attached USB cable. Then, you can use the included stylus pen to draw directly into the program you are working in by "drawing" on the tablet ~ is that cool or what? Graphics Tablets have been used for years by graphic designers, engineers and the like because it gives much greater precision and detail than using a mouse. Organizing Your Bookmarklets At the end of yesterday's tip, I promised you we’d discuss organizing your bookmarklets and that’s exactly what I intend to do! You may be feeling that with all of the bookmarklets you’ve acquired, there is no room left for your regular favorite links. Well, after today, that will no longer be the case! We will be solving that problem by creating a special folder for all of your bookmarklets. Let’s get started, shall we?! First, I’ll give you the instructions for Internet Explorer 7, followed by Firefox. 1.) Open Internet Explorer 7 and press the Alt key. 2.) The below menu will then appear. Select Favorites, followed by Organize Favorites.
5.) One by one, drag and drop all of your bookmarklets into the Bookmarklets folder. 6.) On your Links toolbar, you now have a neat little drop down list of all your bookmarklets. You now have plenty of space for all of your favorite Web sites! Now, let’s move on to Firefox. This will be a little bit easier than Internet Explorer. 1.) First, right click on the Bookmarks toolbar and select New Folder.
3.) Next, just drag and drop all of your bookmarklets into the new folder. 4.) Voila! You’re now done and you have your own custom list of bookmarklets. Now, I urge you to go on and enjoy your bookmarklets like you've never been able to before! ~ Neil Patel If you enjoy our tips, tell your friends. That's what keeps this newsletter growing.
The Right Size What's the right size for a picture, you ask? Well, that depends on the photo. Most monitors display pictures at 72 dpi (dots per inch). So, if you want the picture to be five inches wide (that's probably about the biggest you would want for an e-mail message), the picture would be 360 pixels wide (5 inches x 72 dpi = 360 pixels). Pixel is short for "picture element" and it is the smallest unit of visual information used to build an image. If you have ever zoomed in on an image, pixels are those little squares you may see. The more pixels in an image, the better the resolution. So, how do you get your pictures to be the right size? Well, you use your imaging software, of course! Most scanners and digital cameras come with some sort of imaging software that will allow you to resize an image. To do so, open the picture in your imaging software and resize the image to your desired resolution. You can usually do this via an Image or Edit menu. Your menu style and commands may vary depending on your software. Usually, you'll get a screen that allows you to input the image size in pixels. If there's a checkbox that allows you to constrain proportions, make sure that is checked as well (that ensures that when you change the height or width, the picture remains proportional). That should do it! Since you've changed the picture size, you may want to save it under a different name. Use the Save As command under the File menu of your imaging software to do that. This little tip comes in handy when you want to place a picture on your desktop or if you send it by e-mail. Now your friends won't have to wait forever to download a 10 MB picture file that is way too big when it could have been 10K and just the right size. Give it a try today! ~ Steve For stories, jokes, quotes and cartoons every day, sign up for our Just for Grins newsletter. On this Web site, you will discover the women who have changed the face of medicine presented for you by the National Library of Medicine. You have a couple options to choose from when browsing this site. Let's go! First, you can click the womens' photos at the top of the page and learn about each woman individually. You can also get to the same information by clicking into the Physician’s section, where you will also find a search engine that will allow you to search the physicians by location, ethnicity, career options, medical field, as well as, a keyword search. You will also find an alphabetical index of the physicians near the bottom of the page. Explore the Exhibition – This section is divided into five areas. They are: Introduction, Setting Their Sights, Making Their Mark, Changing Medicine and last, but not least, Videos. The Introduction is basically just a brief intro to each of the sections and it explains what you’ll find there. You’ll also find the Videos in the middle of the Introduction page. It was really interesting to listen to these women talk about their professions, what they’ve faced and how they feel they are making a difference. Setting Their Sights – In the mid-1800s, women fought to be allowed to go to medical school and ever since their admittance, they have faced struggles to be accepted as practitioners. Here you will learn about their triumphs over the stumbling blocks placed in their way as they fought for their place in medicine. Making Their Mark – Here you will learn how women brought new perspective to the medical field. Women focused on caring for communities, the social and economic costs of medicines, helping others get medical educations and even making discoveries that have changed the way medicine was thought of and applied. I really enjoyed reading the Making Discoveries portion of this section. It is really all about the discoveries, changes and practices that women have helped establish. Some of them have videos that go along with them, some of them have interactive exhibits and they are all very interesting! Changing Medicine, Changing Lives – This section is broken up into three parts: Caring for People, Transforming the Profession and Taking the Lead. You will learn here about how women in the medical profession have shaped the way we receive care, as well as, how they’ve balanced their professional and personal lives and instituted changes that overcome the stumbling blocks they have faced in their field. Taking the Lead sums up what the site is about and it shows a glimpse into the future. More and more women are at the top of their fields, influencing change and helping shape how things are done! I was truly amazed by the profiles of doctors on this site. I also really enjoyed reading about the women from the 1800s who fought to get their foot in the door of medicine. It is really incredible when you stop to think about how far they’ve come since then. Check it out! http://www.nlm.nih.gov/changingthefaceofmedicine/ ~ Amanda Do you have a cool, non-commercial site that you want to share?
